We have received some feedback about the new REEF SAFE formula not being as good as the original formula. I originally tried the Fruit of the Island and did like it. I have since used the other flavors. Here is my honest review:
EFFECTIVENESS: As good or better than original which is expected due to the Zinc Oxide formula.
STAYING POWER: Actually better than original, but close. Didn't feel need to re apply quite as much.
TEXTURE: Not the same as the original. Not better or worse, as that is subjective. I would rate it not as awesome feeling on the lips, but still pleasant.
FLAVOR/AROMA: Here is where the REEF SAFE falls a bit short in my opinion. Flavor and Aroma are both less intense, and smells/taste a bit "waxier" than original. Don't get me wrong, it's still a solid product, but do I hear the "OMG, this is the best Lip Balm ever!" and "won't use anything else EVER" from my customers like I have heard a thousand times about the original? No I don't. In the 10 plus years that we have sold TENS OF THOUSANDS (and that is not exagertating) of tubes of the original formula, I don't recall ONE instance of negative feedback.
SUMMARY: I like the original better, but would use both over other brands. Give reef safe a try, then send feedback to me or to Shaka Laka directly. HOPE THIS HELPS!
